The attractive, bristly, deep-green leaves on this spreading, multi-stemmed tree give it a unique look, adding interest and texture to the landscape. It also produces large purple-brown fruit with sweet, deep, pinkish-red flesh of excellent quality. The tree grows to 15 feet or more and the fruit ripens in late summer or fall, with a lesser crop in the spring in some areas.
