This hardy, evergreen grows well in full sun or partial shade as a vine or ground cover. It’s especially attractive growing on an arbor or covering a fence or trees. Slender stems hold glossy, green leaves and bright yellow flowers that bloom from February through April. These trumpet-shaped blooms send out a sweet fragrance and are very attractive to bumblebees and hummingbirds. When grown as a vine, it reaches out 20 feet or more, but also makes a nice ground cover. This is the state flower of South Carolina.
