The bottle shape of this evergreen, which is most predominate in its youth, provides ample space for water storage. The trunk widens with age and slender branches spread from its top with glossy green leaves clustered at the ends. After the leaves drop, long pointed buds lead to fragrant white flowers, tinged with purple, that attract honeybees. These bell-shaped flowers bloom in April and May and are followed by large, brown seedpods.
The Bottle Tree grows from 30-45 feet high and spreads 30+ feet.
