The shaggy, stout trunk of the Sage Palm is topped with semi-glossy green fronds that cascade from the center. These fronds are from 20 to 60 inches long, with many narrow and stiff leaflets. This palm flowers only at full maturity and the male plants bear cones. It is slow growing, up to 10 feet. Often called living fossils, these durable plants have changed very little over eons of time. They thrive in full sun and have low water requirements.
