A popular grape variety, for wine and fresh eating, this vine is vigorous, fast growing, and spreading, and can cover an arbor trellis quickly. The thin-skinned grapes are purple-black, with seeds, and ripen fairly early in summer. This is one of the most popular varieties of grapes grown in the US, and is the source of Zinfandel wine. The vine can provide excellent shade over a terrace or deck, or serve as a privacy screen. With proper care, this plant can remain productive for 50 years or more.
